Bara Hack, Pomfret's lost "Village of Voices" is located in Pomfret, CT.
On June 8, 2006, three days after my uncle Larry died, I went for a walk to clear my head. Ridiculously long walks or bike rides after relatives die is a thing I do, like the time I rode my bike 18 miles into Rhode Island after my great grandmother died in 1999.
After parking at Abington 4 Corners, I started walking. My walk took me up a road and through the woods through a 4H camp (I think), and when I came back out onto the road, I was just a few feet from the entrance to Bara Hack. So I kept walking.
There's only a few pictures because I thought I was going to come back to the village after visiting the cemetery.
Anyway, I kept walking. After what seemed like forever, I ended up at the cemetery. Now, I was thinking I had walked in some large circle, and after leaving the cemetery I expected to come back to the village.
Instead, I kept walking until I ended up on Rt. 244. WHAT.
And then I had to walk like 2 hours back to my car.
So all I remember about that day was walking like 10 miles. haha
I'm sure the person who owns Bara Hack would say I deserve it. LOL
